4 out of 10 Japanese companies have adopted ‘Cool Biz’

“Cool Biz”, the Ministry of Environment’s short sleeved shirt and no-jacket dress code launched in 2005 to save on air conditioning has now been adopted by 41.8% of Japanese companies, it was found in a survey carried out by credit research company Teikoku Databank, presented Sunday.

41.8% of the companies participating in the survey replied that they had adopted it, which is 9.5% up from last year’s result, and 16.1% said they were currently looking into adopting it.

42.9% of the companies that had adopted Cool Biz were large companies, 41.4% small to medium-sized companies.

The survey was carried out in the end of June. Out of 20,313 consulted companies, 9,682 replied.
