Asahi: LDP’s new president

Former Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda was elected president of the Liberal Democratic Party Sunday in an easy victory over his only contender, party Secretary-General Taro Aso. The 71-year-old politician is set to become prime minister on Tuesday to succeed 53-year-old Shinzo Abe.
