Toru Hashimoto files criminal complaint over 2channel death threat

TV-personality and lawyer Toru Hashimoto announced Saturday on his personal blog he had filed a criminal complaint against an unidentified individual who had announced on Japanese internet bulletin board 2channel he intended to kill him and his family, Livedoor News reports.

Hashimoto said on his blog he was “nearly 100% sure” it was just a prank, but explained he had decided to file a complaint because he was worried about his family.

A thread titled “I will killed Hashimoto’s entire family” was posted on 2channel Oct. 7, including the short message “prepare yourself!” News of the threat reached Hashimoto through the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.
