Kumi Koda apologizes on national TV for ‘rotten amnion fluid’ gaffe
Popular singer Kumi Koda apologized Thursday on national TV over joke she cracked during a radio program in which she said, “a mother’s amnion fluid goes rotten after she passes 35.“
“Those were careless remarks. I want to apologize to those who were hurt by my words,” Koda said in tears during a news program broadcast by Fuji Television Network.
The comment caused an internet rage on internet board 2channel, a phenomen known as “enjo”) (going up in flames) and as a direct result Koda and her agency announced Koda would cease promoting her latest album, Kingdom, released in January.
“I’d like to reflect on my remarks thoroughly, looking forward to the day when I can sing in front of you again,” Koda said during the TV interview, but avoided giving a clear answer when asked when she intended to resume her career activities.
