Prosecutor will not appeal Kozakura ruling
The overturning of actress Serena Kozakura’s conviction for willful destruction of property after the defense had proved the size of Kozakura’s breasts made it unlikely she had committed the crime will not be appealed, the prosecutor told Asahi Shimbun on Monday.
The 38-year old actress garnered international media attention after the Tokyo High Court overturned a district court ruling that found her guilty of willful destruction of property and sentenced her to 14 months in jail. The court found in a reconstruction of the alleged crime that it would have been “extremely difficult” for the actress to wriggle through a small hole in the door, casting doubt on the testimony given by the man who claimed Kozakura had broken into his apartment.
“There are no appropriate grounds for an appeal,” the Asahi Shimbun quoted the prosecutor as saying.
