Witches selected for new Sega campaign

Beauty pageant organizer Oscar Promotion held an audition for girls age 6 to 11 on Sunday at Sega’s Tokyo Joypolis amusement park, Famitsu.com reported. The occasion was the selection of two new models for the 2007 marketing campaign of Sega arcade hit Fashionable Witches Love and Berry (Oshare Majo – Rabu and Berii).

From over 7000 young hopefuls, ten girls had been selected to participate at the audition. From this group, two lucky winners would be picked - one for the role of cute, girly Love, and one for that of the more adult-like Berry. To convince the judges of their eligibility, the girls had to perform both a dance act as well as do a demonstration of some personal skill of their own choice.

The girls’ performances were judged by representatives from both Oscar Promotion and Sega, as well as idols Shibuya Asuka, Naito Risa and Sakamaki Yuria from Beautiful Girl Club 31. After much head-scratching, the decision finally fell on 10-year olds Yamaura Yui and Ogawa Arisa to play the parts of Love and Berry respectively. A special runner-up price was also awarded to Sakuma Risa.
