Woman hurt in TV Tokyo potato bout
A woman who participated in a segment filmed for the TV Tokyo variety show “TV Champion 2” in March this year received major damages during the recording that took 2 months to heal completely, the Mainichi Shimbun reported Monday.
According to the TV station, the woman participated in a segment where 30 people were competing over who could capture the most potatoes. There was a lot of shoving and pushing among the many participants and the woman hurt her knee ligament. Because of the accident, the segment has not yet been broadcasted on the show.
“It was TV Tokyo’s responsibility to make sure the participants were safe, but we are still waiting for them to take action’s that show their good faith”, the woman’s lawyer told the Mainichi Shimbun. The woman is currently preparing to file a civil suit against the TV company, and demand damage compensation.
A TV Tokyo spokesman commented, “We take full responsibility for what happened, and hope to come to an agreement [with the woman].“
