Sanrio to sell Y39m dog house
Sanrio Co., creator of the cutest little expressionless cat in the world announced Friday that they would cushion an exclusive dog house with a Hello Kitty-formed cushion, set to go on sale for 3.9 million yen (US$31,600) during a promotional event to be held from July 24 to 30 at Mitsukoshi’s flagship department store in Nihombashi, Tokyo.
The one-of-a-kind dog house has been designed in collaboriation with a Japanese maker of high-end pet goods and comes decorated with some 7,600 crystal beads, Sanrio said.
“There’s been a boom in luxury couches for larger dogs, so we thought there might be room for something new,” International Herald Tribune quoted Sanrio spokesman Kazuo Tohmatsu.
If there’s more than one bidder, the buyer will be decided by lot. But in case your luck and not your wealth is the problem, you might be comforted to know there will also be a 8 million yen (US$64,800) Hello Kitty “maneki neko,” or good-fortune cat, available for purchase during the event.
