Peru’s Fujimori will run in upper house elections
Former Peruvian President Albert Fujimori, now under house arrest in Chile, announced Thursday morning Japanese time that he will run in the Japanese upper house elections in July, through his spokesman in Lima, AFP reported.
“After in-depth analysis, Alberto Fujimori made the decision today … to be a candidate for the Japanese Senate,” said spokesman Carlos Raffo.
Fujimori was born in Peru, but was registered with the Japanese consular authorities in Peru as an infant, allowing him to hold dual citizenship in Japan and Peru.
