Ministry of Internal Affars calls for ‘prudency and accuracy’ in electorial coverage

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications invited broadcasting company officials on Thursday, the official start of the Upper House election campaigning, and called on them to be “prudent and accurate” when releasing election results projections, Kyodo News reported.

The ministry said there had been large amount of false projections in the 2005 Lower House election. “Given that an error in broadcasting the result of an election can have a major impact on those concerned”, the ministry had decided to officially ask of the broadcasting companies to make an extra effort
in this years election.
