Fukuda on defensive in Diet deliberations over refueling bill

Japan’s parliament started deliberations Tuesday on a bill to continue refueling support for U.S.-led antiterrorism operations in and near Afghanistan, with the opposition camp turning up the heat on the government following the revelation of a series of scandals involving the Defense Ministry.
