Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura says he is a firm believer in UFOs. |
UFOs definitely exist, Chief Cabinet Secretary says
Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura, the government’s top spokesman said Tuesday during a press conference he “definitely” believes that UFOs exist. “How else would you explain the (Peruvian) Nazca Lines?” the Asahi Shimbun quoted Machimura as saying.
The remark came after the government made a statement the same day that it has not found any evidence of so-called unidentified flying objects, an official response to a question submitted by Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker Ryuji Yamane.
“This is an issue that the nation is interested in — it is a defence issue and a confirmation operation needs to take place. But the government does not even try to collect information necessary for the confirmation.” Yamane told Reuters.
At a regular press briefing after government had officially answered the question, Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura took the time to state his own personal beliefs.
“The government’s official response has to be a stereotyped phrase like that. But personally, I definitely think they exist,” Machimura said.
The comments drew laughter from reporters present, according to Reuters.
Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda stuck to the official answer when he later the same day told reporters he personally “still hadn’t confirmed” the existence of UFOs.

what is look like the thing in the top on the ministry of defense…
Now is the time to really acknowlege the existence of ufo,s and I think they are friendly and could be our ancestors. Perhaps government over the world knew of their existence except it is kept away from the public.
Keep believing that one day they will land.

If Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura of Japan “definitely” believes that UFOs exist because, in his mind, there is no other explanation for the Nazca Lines in Peru he is badly uninformed about ancient history and modern archaeology.
The Nazca Lines can easily be explained without resorting to dubious theories about UFOs. To the Nazca Indians and many other ancient people the sun and the moon were sky dwelling gods. The Nazca Lines were created to be seen by their sky gods and there is no need to be able to see the figures from the sky in order to create them. One need only make a smaller drawing and scale it upwards. There is archaeological evidence that that is exactly what the Nazca Indians did to create the gigantic geoglyphs that are best viewed from the sky.
The totally eclipsed sun distinctly resembles a gigantic eye staring down from the sky, as may be seen from this high quality photo of the 2001 total solar eclipse taken by “eclipse chaser” Wendy Carlos -
There were an unusual number of total solar eclipses over Peru during the time period that the Nazca Lines were created. There is strong evidence that the ancient Nazca Indians saw the total solar eclipse “Eye of God” in the skies over Peru on several occasions and created the biomorph geoglyphs in response to this spectacular “eye in the sky”.
Why is every news story about UFOs illustrated with a mocking photo and taken from a tongue-in-cheek perspective? Is it really that crazy?
Adelbert, thank you for your input, but personally I do not think the story is taken from a tongue-in-cheek perspective, but rather gives a very neutral description of what happened. The image could perhaps be described as “mocking” but that was not the actual intention.
I can tell you, they definitely exist! My family and friends have been seeing them almost every night all summer, here in Lake Tahoe, California. They sit over the mountaintops around the lake, far brighter than the stars. It seems like they’re watching or guarding the Lake. The stars and planets move, but these things generally don’t. But sometimes they move very quickly, and when they do, you can tell they are NOT stars. It is shocking to see, at first. They are close, too, inside the Lake Tahoe Basin, and maybe a thousand feet up. I spent the night up on the rim of the Basin this summer and saw one from above!
My son caught one on camera two months ago, that we watched for three hours. It was flying back and forth, about a thousand feet up. I’ll send the photo to anyone who would like to see it. Many nights, we can see three or four at a time.
I saw my first one in 1992, from my snowcat at a ski area on Echo Summit near Lake Tahoe. It raced all over the sky, for almost two minutes, hovering still, then moving in a blur, jumping three miles in an instant. Then it took off straight up, like a bullet, streaking into the stars. I could see it for a long time before it disappeared. That event totally changed my life. I’ve watched the sky every night since then.
We have seen a total of five different kinds, but mostly there are two kinds that sit over the mountaintops around us- one kind is silver, and flashes blue, red, amber, white. The others are large golden globes, that are usually in groups of three to five. They sometimes line up in perfect formation, like the Phoenix Lights. They’ve made triangles, crosses, and stacked up one over the other, right over Heavenly Valley, up to several miles high.
They are everywhere. Mostly, you need to be where it is extremely dark to see them. But also, you need to believe they are up there, because if you don’t, you may be looking right at one and not realize what you are seeing. That’s what it took, for me. I didnt see any for many years, after the first one, until I met someone who told me where to look, and what to look for. Since then, I’ve been seeing them constantly. They ARE HERE. For REAL. And I’ll gladly send you a photo, and tell you more about them, if you’d like. Contact me at
