The UFO debate: much ado about nothing?

Opposition asks Cabinet to stop dwelling on UFOs

Democratic Party of Japan members have joined together with Liberal Democratic Party members to call on Cabinet members to stop spending so much time talking about UFOs, the Yomiuri Shimbun reports.

DPJ Secretary General Yukio Hatoyama, brother of Minister of Justice Kunio Hatoyama, told reporters on Friday that Cabinet members and lawmakers should not get too involved in the UFO discussions, dismissing aliens as an impossibility.

“Since it’s all complete fantasy, it makes no sense to discuss how the Defense Ministry should respond,” Hatoyama was quoted by the Yomiuri Shimbun.

The discussions have also been criticized by several LDP members, for example lawmaker Toshihiro Nikai who commented on Thursday he thought there were other things politicians should spend their time on.

The UFO debate was triggered Tuesday by a question asked to the Cabinet by DPJ member Ryuji Yamane, when the government officially took the position that the existence of UFOs are not confirmed. Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura drew headlines around the world when he after the conference stated he was a firm believer in UFOs, citing Peru’s Nazca Lines as evidence.

Ryuji Yamane has also said wants to end the “alien furor,” according to the Yomiuri Shimbun.

  2. I hope the cabinet continues this debate, it’s a very serious issue whether the are hostile or not.

To me it seems over the past week the japan government has possibly become aware of this issue and the large scale cover up from the US, and is “possibly trying to disclose the truth”

Since this is classified at such a top level of secrecy it is quite likely that most parties in world governments are unaware of this issue and is possibly why it’s spelling a row.

I only pray I’m right as this could be a key opportunity for disclosure.

    Please continue debating.

  6. I have a list with 188 hypnotists in ufology, from 28 countries. 39 of them wrote books about abducted persons in his/her countries. NO ONE FROM JAPAN. Why? Probably because Japanese don´t like to study the subject.

  10. I applaud these Japanese legislators for discussing this subject so openly. They demonstrate both honesty of opinion and courage to do so in these days of exaggerated alien fears. After more than thirty years of serious research on the general subject of atmospheric anomalies I can say without reservation that something very unusual and poorly understood (by science) is happening in the skies of virtually every nation on earth. Japan is not unique in this respect. But for the Japanese government to now ignore this reality would be foolish and perhaps even dangerous simply because we do not know what we are dealing with. Every government should devote time, money, and creative energy to study these phenomena and also share their discoveries with all other nations. It should be a global response. And Japan can play a leading role in this search. That is my personal belief.

  12. There are eyewitness accounts from everywhere in the world testifying to the existence of at least one other technological lifeform either living on or visiting our planet. Most evidence attests to the former. The accounts of witnesses go back to at least the 17th century c.e. Witnesses range from every walk of life and this increasing amount of first hand evidence cannot be dismissed as fantasy or hysteria.

  14. Please Japan. Dont let this issue go away. I beg you. In my country (Canada) our government is too corrupt to discuss sincerely on this so please help Humanity.
