Meat Hope prepares to file for bankruptcy
The scandal-ridden Hokkaido meat processing company Meat Hope is considering to file bankruptcy, the company revealed during negotiations with the union, held on Tuesday, the Sankei Shimbun reported. It was also suggested that the CEO Minoru Tanaka might be personally filing for bankruptcy, as well.
Since it was revealed on June 20 that Meat Hope had been mislabeling ground pork for beef, Meat Hope’s Tomakomai factory has stood unused. Following recalled products and cancelled contracts, 70 employees have already been dismissed.
