Government takes measures against Shiroi Koibito-manufacturer
After it was revealed earlier this month that Sapporo-based confectioner Ishiya had mislabeled the best-before date on its famous Hokkaido souvenir chocolate “Shiroi Koibito,” Hokkaido’s Department of Environment and Lifestyle sternly reprimanded the company, the Sankei Shimbun reports.
The department ruled that the company had not acted in compliance with the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) for best-before labelling for four of its products, including the “Shiroi Koibito 30th Anniversary Chocolate,” and demanded Ishiya would cease the mislabelling.
Ishiya has since the mislabelling was brought to light voluntarily put a temporary stop to all its production.
