Woman arrested suspected for strangling senile mother

A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture on Sunday, suspected for having killed her 83-year-old mother, the Asahi Shimbun reports. The suspect has admitted to the accusations.

According to the police investigation, the suspect strangled her 82-year-old mother, who was suffering from dementia, between Saturday night and Sunday noon. The suspect told police the killing was triggered by a quarrel.

On Sunday noon, the woman called the police, saying she had killed her mother. Police who arrived at the scene could soon confirm the mother was dead, and arrested the suspect who immediately confessed to the crime.
