Japan, U.S. to hold missile shield drill

Japan and the United States will hold their first joint missile defense exercise at sea in January, government sources said Wednesday. In the exercise, the Maritime Self-Defense Force will deploy its Aegis-equipped destroyer vessel, Kongo, which is set to become the first Japanese vessel with the seaborne Standard Missile-3 in December.
