Sailor held as deserter, may know things on taxi driver’s death

The U.S. Navy said Saturday a male sailor has been taken into custody as a deserter, adding that he may be privy to circumstances relating to the death of a taxi driver, Kyodo News report.

The 22-year-old sailor was held in Tokyo’s Shinagawa Ward. His credit card was found in the slain driver’s taxi Wednesday in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, according to Japanese police.
