Japan’s oldest person dies at age of 113, one week after the demise of previous record-holder

Japan’s oldest person, Sitsu Nakano, died of old age at a nursing home in Ogori, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Sunday 2:55 pm, Japanese media outlets report. This comes only a week after the world’s oldest person, Yone Minagawa, residing in the same prefecture as Nakano, died.

Nakano was recognized as the oldest living person in the country after Minagawa died on Aug. 13 at the age of 114. Nakano was born on January 1, 1894.
